Three couples from the ARCC who also happen to be Sharks took Thursday and Friday off and spent the weekend in Eureka Springs, Arkansas for the annual Eureka Springs Corvette Weekend. The Van Mill's, the Johnston's and the Kneib's took the trip. We left on Thursday morning and drove the 320 miles and arrived around 4:00p.m. We are happy to report no "adventures" in the drive to and from except for the torrential rain storm that hit us at Eureka, MO. We had to pull off the road because the rain was so intense and of course the Corvettes were leaking like crazy. After waiting out the worst of the storm, drying off and getting a cup of coffee, we started off again. Sprinkled on and off on Thursday, but Friday it cleared off and we had a GREAT weekend. Fuel economy run was on Friday. That involves a 100 mile drive on the back roads of Arkansas. They fill you up before you leave and record your mileage; then when you get back they fill you up again, record the mileage and then calculate the miles per gallon. David and I won the dubious award of "Gas Guzzler", but then again, we didn't drive the car to conserve fuel. (I only got a little nervous when he broke the tires loose going around a curve or two!) Saturday was the car show and the poker run - again a great time and another nice 50 mile drive. Then back home on Sunday. We got the cars out and drove them.....isn't that what they're for? We put a total of 850 miles on the car over the span of the 4 day weekend.
